Spiral Staircases

Christian Richter travels to abandon buildings to take these photos. 1. I chose this photo because it is simple, and it was one of the few square ones. 2. The Oldest Living Things In The World

Killer Time Lapses

At first he didn't shoot time lapses, but saw a video and got into it. After making some videos in Iceland Panasonic brought him to Rio to shoot the whole city. I learned that it takes lots of planning, can take up a lot of time(depends on what your shooting), and music is key in the video. 1. I saw different time lapses from all across Rio. 2. Joe Capra made all of the time lapses in the video. 3. Joe was flown out to Rio to shoot different time lapses. He captured some in the favelas, rich areas, downtown, and several nature shots. 4.  I learned that the typical shoot is 20-30 minutes long, and when producing the video fitting music is key.

1. I chose this photo because it draws attention, by trying to what happened and if the person is alright. 2. People were protesting at Kent State University the National Guard opened fire. The shooting killed 4. John Filo was on seen and took this famous picture of a protester crying over a friend. 3. I learned that the people were protesting because soldiers were overseas in Cambodia. The National Guard was going to break up the protests with rubber rounds, but it turned out to be real bullets. This story made national news. 4. 5.  John Paul Filo was born on  August 21, 1948 in Pennsylvania. He attended   Kent State University and was a photographer on the side. John Filo made American history. He is still alive at the age of 71.

1. I chose this photo because it is a big part of world history, it is an interesting photo, it's simple, and balanced. 2.  During World War II the USA dropped the Fat Boy, an atomic bomb, on Nagasaki. This picture shows the cloud of debris, dust, and atomic waste that was shot up into the sky right after the bombing. Lieutenant Charles Levy shot the picture from the bombing plane. 3.  I learned that this bomb destroyed the whole town and caused around 80,000 deaths. The bombings across Japan caused the Emperor to withdraw from the war. 4. 5. Charles was born on October 6,  1918 in Utah. He trained at Tinian Island, before he dropped the bomb and took his famous picture. He died on November 24, 1997.

1. I  picked this photo because it is very interesting, mysterious, and it also excites me.  2.  The Hubble space craft was sent to space late, and it was projected to fail. After repairs were done to the telescope it produced this image of the Eagle Nebula. 3.  The Eagle Nebula is actually just a bunch of dust shaped by high winds. The nebula is 5 light years away or in other terms 30 trillion miles.  4.  5.  Nasa was the creator of the telescope that started working on May 20,1990, but there are no real photographers.

1. I picked this image because this is a symbol for American grit/ will to fight. It is also just a good photo. 2.  In this photo several marines raise a flag over on Suribachi after winning a battle against the Japanese, over land for an airbase. the rose the flag to demoralize the Japanese and other axis powers. 3.  This picture quickly spread across the USA, and won a  Pulitzer Prize. 4. 5. Joe Rosenthal was born on October 9, 1911 in Washington DC.  Joe attended McKinley High School and got a job as a reporter out of high school. He died on August 20, 2006.

1. I picked this image because it shows action and two clear subjects.  I also like the sport of boxing. 2.  In this photo that Neil Leifer shot, you can see Muhammed Ali towering over his opponent.  On May 25, 1965 Ali defeated Sonny Liston. this picture shows Ali taunting him by saying, "Get up and fight sucker." 3. From the video I learned that everyone knew that Muhammed Ali was a well known fighter, but many people didn't like him because he was a black muslim fighter. 4. 5. Neil Leifer was born on  December 28, 1942  in New York City. Neil got his photogra phy skills from the  Henry Street Settlement House.
