Africa and Abandoned theme Parks

1. Nick Bradnt's  photos bring a bigger picture and perspective on African animals. I noticed Nick tends to focus on endangered animals like elephants and cheetahs. I think his goal of the photos is to bring awareness. I also like how he puts his pictures in a blackened tone to give the pictures more feelings. I also like how he always has a simple, clear frame . He also has a clear center of focus with no mergers.

This photo shows a simple picture of a skull, showing death which is common in those harsh conditions and with poachers. I like this photo because it is simple but conveys a big message. the tone also just fits the setting and subject greatly.
In this photo there is simplicity because there is no over powering background. It also features no mergers, and good framing because it captured the subject as the center focus.

I read that Nick doesn't like to use  telescopic lens and instead likes to get closer to his subject. he uses a medium format film camera, which uses film, so there is a lot of dodge and burning involved in the picture production.

At first Nick took pictures because he liked all of the landscape and animals over there. but then Nick took these pictures to show one of the last wild places with animals before, and its destroyed by mankind.
His hope is for us to realize that both wild game and humans environment is degrading, and something needs to be done.
‘If we follow our present path of development and destruction, in just a few years time, rural African children will be as uncomprehending that elephants and giraffes once roamed the fields in front of their home, as we are that woolly rhinos once lived where our nearest shopping mall now stands’
This shows that Nick Believes in a few years there will be no animals left in Africa, the land will change, and be polluted because there is no one taking care of it.

Nicks new focus was to spread awareness for how we are destroying their ecosystems and making our cities more polluted.

Nick created life size panels with animals on it then had them placed in the polluted places like the dumps. Then he would take the pictures, with the black and white filter. But with all this he wouldn't photo shop even though it would be easier.

I think his work would make people open their eyes and try to change. You would think people would take action and try to fix their mistakes on the environment.

His first images where it was just the animals in the wild were majestic and calming, but all the later ones brought a sense of scariness and sadness. Scary because we might not be able to reverse the pollution, and sadness to see what we have done to our earth.

I  would like to visit Spreepark the most because, I like how the tone of it is like an autumn setting. It adds a cooler weather and darker  toned pictures. I also think it would create great pictures because it seems to have alot of leading lines like on the farris wheel.

There has already been a good amount of documenting of ghost towns, but I feel like there are plenty of more opportunities, especially with the filters on cameras now.

I think it would be interesting to photograph a ghost town for several reasons. First off if it was all rusted out like this it would set a old, creepy, and eery mood.  Also it would be great because you would be able to focus on a subject because their is no overpowering backgrounds there unlike a lively city. There is also a lot of different opportunities for portraits and even landscape pictures. You could pose sitting on a porch of an abandoned house and just get that house. There is a lot of different framing opportunities.

For a place like this you would need a good camera like a Dslr, probably a tripod, and I would bring different lenses for different tones. You would also have to drive out o the place so you would need a truck or something that can go off road, since there would be no major roads because no one is there. You would also need to make sure you are not trespassing.
