Architecture Preview


Casa Mila/ La Pedrera, Spain


1.  The architect who built this was Antoni Gaudi.
2. It was built in between 1906 and 1912.
3. This building is located in Barcelona, Spain.
4. You are allowed to visit this building
5. I couldn't find anything about the actual cost to build the building. just percentages of the cost of labor.
6. This building was originally designed as an apartment complex.
7.  I chose this building because it reminded me of a seashell. The rounded edges and the top swirly things make it look like something off of Spongebob. Some say it looks like a quarry.It is also cool because it was an apartment complex.


National Centre for the Performing Arts, China
1. The architect who built the egg shaped building is Paul Andreu.
2. It was built in between 2001- 2007 
3. It is located in Beijing, China.
4. You can visit the Performing Arts Center.
5.The cost to make the building is $324,160,500 
6. The purpose for building this building was to give the Beijing community a art center. There are concert halls and art hung throughout. 
7. This building stood out to me because it looked like a goose egg. It also drew my attention because it seems to be all glass and steel seams on the outside. There is also a man made lake surrounding it. 
The UFO House, Taiwan


1. These buildings were built and owned by the Hung Kuo Group.
2. The houses started to get built in 1978 but soon failed two years later.
3. These odd housed are located in New Taipei, Taiwan.
4. They were demolished in 2010 so you cannot visit.
5. There is nothing about the cost to make them.
6. These buildings were designed to be a resort for USA Military Officers.
7. I chose these buildings because they just looked different. They looked-like they were from another planet or from the future. If they weren't demolished I would think they would be full because of their odd design.



Habitat 67, Canada

1. This apartment complex was designed by Moshe Safdie.
2.  These were built in 1967
3.  This apartment complex is located in Montreal, Canada.
4. You can only visit the outside unless you live in the apartments.
5. I couldn't find anything about the cost to build the complex.
6. This building was created for a thesis project for Safdie's college program that he ran.
7. i chose this building because the shapes of the apartments. It is a bunch of cubes stacked up, and they aren't even either they stick out. It kind of looks like the building once moved.



Atomium

1. This building was designed by André and Jean Polak.
2. The building was completed in 1958.
3.  The building is located in Brussels, Belgium.
4. You can visit the landmark building, and even eat inside of it.
5. The cost to renovate the building is $28,226,900.00. I couldn't find anything on the original cost.
6. This building was created for the 1958 Brussels World Expo
7. I chose this building because it was more interesting than all of the others. It is almost like a giant sculpture or ferris wheel. I also found it very interesting that they have a restaurant in one of spheres.
